The Everts Foundation sends free comfort boxes to families facing a cancer diagnosis. To do that, families tell us some very personal things about their household. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, who sees it and how to have it deleted.

What we collect when you request a comfort box

Our request form asks for:

• Your name and email address
• The cancer diagnosis
• Your shipping address
• How many people live in your household, their ages and what they are interested in
• Anything else you choose to tell us, such as favorites or dietary restrictions

This includes health information and information about children. We treat it accordingly.

Why we collect it

Only to pack and ship your comfort box and to talk to you about it. The ages and interests are what let us choose something for each person by name. The diagnosis helps us understand what your family is facing. The address is where the box goes.

We do not use any of it for advertising, and we do not build profiles.

Who sees it

A small number of Everts Foundation volunteers who shop for and pack boxes. Shipping carriers receive your name and address so they can deliver the box. That is all.

What we never do

We never sell, rent or trade your information. We never share your diagnosis, your children’s details or your address with anyone outside the foundation, apart from the shipping carrier. We do not add you to a mailing list because you requested a box.

How long we keep it

Form submissions are stored in our website’s database and in our email. We keep a request for as long as we need it to send your box, follow up with you and keep basic records of the families we have served. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

How to see, correct or delete your information

Email Matt@evertsfoundation.org and ask. We will delete what we hold and confirm when it is done. You can also ask for a copy of what we have, or ask us to correct it.

Donations

Donations are processed by Donorbox and its payment processor, Stripe. Your card details go to them and never to us — we never see or store a card number. We receive your name, email address and donation amount so we can thank you and send a receipt. Their own privacy policies govern how they handle payment information.

The contact form

Messages sent through our contact form are stored in our website’s database and emailed to us. The same rules apply: we do not sell it, and you can ask us to delete it.

Cookies and website analytics

Our website uses cookies and analytics tools, including Google Analytics and Jetpack, to understand how many people visit and which pages they read. This tells us things like how many people read the caregiver page this week. It does not tell us who you are, and it is not connected to comfort box requests. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Children’s privacy

We collect information about children only from a parent or guardian requesting a comfort box for their household. We use it solely to choose items for that child and to ship the box. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children, and our forms are not intended to be filled in by them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
